Theobald had livery of his lands 18 July 1222, and was summoned with horses and arms to accompany the King into Brittany October 1229.
His mother would remarry to Fulk FitzWarin and became outlaws, thought to have the basis for the story of Robin Hood and Marion.
Despite the friary was not built properly until his grandson founded it, he is reportedly buried here, perhaps what existed before the friary was built.
