  History	In 1678 it was proposed to erect at Williamsburg, a good church to take the place of two indifferent ones on the parish. Rowland Jones was the rector. John Page, first of the family, headed the list of subscriptions with L20, and gave the ground for the church and graveyard.... Afterward his eldest so, Francis, enlarged the church. the parish was named Bruton in honof of Thomas Ludwell, who came from a place of the same name in Somersetshire, England.  [2]
