History Alix was born in Lusignan about 1224, the second eldest daughter of Hugues X de Lusignan, \'le Brun\', seigneur de Lusignan, count of La Marche, and Isabella d\'Angoulême, widowed queen-consort of King John of England. Alix was therefore a half-sister of King Henry III of England.

In 1247, a year after her mother\'s death, Alix and three of her brothers William, Adhémar and Guy, accompanied the new papal legate William of Modena, the cardinal bishop of Sabina, to England, which they had decided to make their home, and live at the expense of the Crown.

In August of that year her half-brother King Henry married her to John de Warren, earl of Warren and Surrey, son of William de Warenne, earl of Warren and Surrey, and Maud Marshal, daughter of the great William Marshal, 1st earl of Pembroke. The marriage caused some resentment among the English nobility, as they considered the king\'s Lusignan siblings to be parasites and a liability to the kingdom. Many prestigious honours and titles were granted to the Lusignans; Adhémar became bishop of Winchester and William became lord of Pembroke. Alix was also said to have been disdainful of all things English.

Alix and her husband had three children, all of whom would have progeny: William, who married Joane de Vere, daughter of Robert de Vere, 5th earl of Oxford, and was accidentally killed at a tournament on 15 December 1286 (his son John succeeded his grandfather as earl of Surrey); Eleanor who married Sir Henry Percy; and Isabel, who married John Baliol, king of Scots.   [1
